NAVADAN’s Need
NAVADAN has been selling cleaning chemicals and equipment for cleaning tanks and cargo holds onboard thousands of Danish and foreign ships. They place great emphasis on quality and innovation, and continuously offer new equipment that ensures increasingly effective solutions. Their new equipment allows users to stand at the bottom of the cargo hold and clean up to a height of 20 meters, delivering high pressure up to 180 bars.
NAVADAN’s customers have high demands on protection, quality and price. Their products are transported to ports all over the world by truck, plane and ship, and they have no time for delays or damages. A delay by a few hours can result in a loss of tens of thousands of dollars. Therefore, this places a high demand on the packaging of their equipment.
NAVADAN’s Supply Chain Manager, Valentin Kold Gundersen says, “Our end users are sailors, their workplace is a ship in international waters that has both limited space and limited time. It is important that all packaging is both simple to handle and easy to dispose of or reuse”. Additionally, they were looking for packaging that supported their processes throughout the value chain.
Clip-Lok’s Solution
Clip-Lok’s Key Account Manager – Lars Vikkelsø, gathered information about NAVADAN’s operation and requirements. With these inputs, Clip-Lok’s sales and development team designed an innovative one-way packaging solution for NAVADAN’s new range of high-end high-pressure cleaning equipment, with machines up to 800 bars. The boxes are designed and tailor-made for each NAVADAN product. Thus, it is easy to place the heavy equipment on the pallet bottom, and the box is built side-by-side around the equipment using the Clip-Lok QIK Plastic Clips®.
These unique clips secure the box and no tools are required to assemble and disassemble the box. Clip-Lok uses heat-treated softwood as dunnage to secure the product. The dunnage provides added protection to NAVADAN’s product during transport.
Clip-Lok’s solution is also unique due to its tailor-made pallet bottom that ensures easy transportation of heavy and bulky products using different forklifts. These boxes are also flat-packable and stackable. Therefore, they are easy to store, which is an added advantage when space is limited. Clip-Lok One-Way boxes are environment friendly as all components can be recycled as chipboard or pallet blocks, or burnt for energy.
